I have not had any issues with my 2017 TRD and it has 6,500 miles. It is operating exactly as Toyota designed. Now that is not to say it has its quirks with the transmission that has driven me insane. I installed the Shiftsense Pro V2 this week and it has helped tremendously. It is a good truck.

The shifts feel much crisper, solid, and the rpm will steadily climb to the next shift point. The throttle response feels almost like I am back in my Ram. The Taco responds to throttle input. The shift points are minimum speeds. The more throttle input, the longer the gear will hold.
