Advice on head unit car stereo

I'd be careful about relying on the phone for navigation. In and around Asheville, Verizon has great service. But T-moble drops out on I40 less than 20 miles from the edge of Asheville. Yet, the navi that comes with Entune always works. We go 2 hours into the outback to kayak, and, again...

Advice on head unit car stereo

A while back I asked a similar question about a unit I was interested in. Crickets. With all the discussion over speakers you would think there would be some expertise in head units. I think the head unit in the Taco is pretty good. It's fast, intuitive, and does most of what I need...

    ECT question

The other thing I notice with "shifting" is a mild downshift sensation when there is no change in the gear showing on the instrument cluster. Most noticible going up hill. Again, SSP alway shows the gear the truck is in. We talked about this before. But the 3rd gen Tacoma has an Atkinson set...

    ECT question

How do you know you're not in 6th gear? Does ECT show the gear on the dash? With Shift Sense Pro, I see the engaged gear all the time. You have to be going a little over 70 mph on a flat surface for 6th gear to kick in. Maybe just go a little faster than 65 mph, and see what happens.

    Leafs look flat AF...

The website states that OME Dakar Springs part # EL095R provide approximately a 2" lift on a 16+ Tacoma. https://wheelersoffroad.com/i-30744976-dakar-leaf-spring-set-for-2005-tacoma-el095r-x2.html How does that compare to how the Taco comes from the factory? And if it's higher, what has to...

    Hemmings Daily on Octane

Let's go through this again. Hemmings Daily bills itself as "The World's Largest Collector Car Marketplace." Maybe so, but I never heard of them before tonight. Regardless, they posted an article about octane rating and performance that concludes... "Although higher octane can cost...

    Navigation App Issues

I'll get a spurious direction when I fail to enter all the details. For example, "Main St" is entered but not "North" Main St. Otherwise, it's pretty accurate except for the last 100 yards when it tells me "You've arrived..." but, not quite.

    JVC KW-V950BW

I'm thinking about replacing my 2017 Taco head unit with the one above. I don't have JBL. Does anybody have experience with it? My car audio dealer lists this unit as JVC KW-M950BW, but I can't find a unit on line with that number. I want the replacement unit to have an amp at least as...

    New speakers

Not for nothin', but you don't do any cutting. There's lots of unclipping, but no cutting any panel.
