    Shopping for Taco #3

Wish you luck, new inventory is limited, finding something on a lot is a real crap shoot. I don't know if you can talk to a dealer and have them looking for one for you. Depending on dealer some will go out of their way to find a specific vehicle and get it to their dealership if it means a sale...

Starts rough cranks over and over

If you're still having issues after 2nd fuel pump try some injector cleaner/upper cylinder lube. I use either Lucas or amsoil. I don't use either at the frequency they recommend, they recommend every tank full, I dump a bottle in whenever I think it's been awhile, probably every 3rd or 4th tank.

    Exhaust

I've got a Borla on mine. It is a little louder than stock but not much, engine breaths a lot better though. If I start mine by itself you'd probably not notice the sound difference, however if you start it next to a stock exhaust you can hear the difference. Under full throttle it is louder but...

    Oil change question

That's also one of the reasons for e15 and e85 gas. It's not that it's better or is good for you're vehicle. I would say most consumers don't have any idea what kind of gas mileage they are getting, the only thing they see is the price on the pump.

am proud of my 2001 tacoma with 393000 miles posted a pic on tacomaworld and got banned

Well this is just me but if I walked into a bar, club, concert that was too noisy or I didn't like what was going on I'd leave. I'm not the voice of authority to tell people how I think they should act. Some people just need to think they are more important or their views are all that matters.

LMAO, that thread is well over a year old and last post was over 6 months ago, it pretty much died on it's own. There's a thing called free speech, if you don't like it just keep on moving.

    Cold air intake,k&n

I've got the k&n panel filter, just the drop in to replace the OEM. I really like it. I know a lot use the full cold air conversion however I've always been hesitant about them because of possible water injeston. The only real complaints Ive head about the k&n in general is some say they get oil...

    Differential Fluid

I don't know this for a fact but I think the 75w85 that they recommend is either a conventional or synthetic blend. If anything the 75w90 will be better because more film strength when hot. I wouldn't do the 75w140, I'd be afraid that'd be too thick.

    1997 Tacoma V-6 making a sucking sound...vacuum?

If you can't see anything obvious stop by local advance auto, auto zone, or O'Reily's and get you're check engine light scanned. That could give you an idea where to concentrate you're efforts.

    Oil change question

I'm going back to amsoil my next change, I got away from it last year strictly because of price. Been using Pennzoil the last year and it's been ok however my wife's van has an actual oil life monitor vs a mileage reminder. According to the monitor the Pennzoil is done at 5k miles, amsoil was...

    Jaw drop oil change

You might be right, I don't know. But if memory serves me right the sludging issue was partly because of extended oil and filter changes. I get it ,not same engine and oils have improved over the years however once the damage is done it's done. To me it's just cheap insurance to change my oil.

    Jaw drop oil change

Recently watched a utube video from certified Toyota master mechanic on disassembly of Camry engine that was religiously maintained by Toyota standards, 10k Mike oil changes by Toyota. Started burning oil at 120k miles, by 160k miles it was burning so much oil owner couldn't stand it any more...

    Locking Gas Cap

Just a personal preference but I'd go with either Stant or the OEM from dealer.

    Locking Gas Cap

What's the price difference? Some have reported issues with some aftermarket caps, Stant has always had a good reputation, don't know the brand that Auto Zone sells.

Yeah, Moog used to be considered basically a race proven upgrade no matter what the price.

One off the weirdest things I found is how to adjust the brightness of you're dash lights. The stick that you push to reset you're trip mileage is also dash light control, twist to left to dim, right to brighten.

You can simply turn it off on the display screen between the tach and speedo. Flip to the screen for the lane departure, not sure that's the right name, and there you can adjust how sensitive you want it to be or simply turn it off. Will stay off till you reset it, it doesn't turn itself back on.
