OK, I found the solution. It was in the apps on my touch screen. Somehow the option to open only the drivers door was selected, not all four doors as it had previously been. Now how that happened to change is anyones guess.

That is how my Tacoma was set up from the dealer. For some reason on my trip to WV, now when I unlock the truck with the drivers door handle, only the drivers door unlocks. I have to use the switch on the inside of the door or my key fob to unlock the other three doors. Any ideas how to get...

Toyota told me that sport mode and ECT cut out 6th gear. It does not on my truck. 70 mph is 1750 to 1800 rpm using the ECT and sport mode in 6th gear.

I should add that the truck has just shy of 8000 miles on it. When I bought it in 08 and made the trip the truck had under 2500 miles and got less than 15 mpg tops, in drive and using cruise control.

I made a trip to WV from NJ just this past week. The same route to and from home, filled up at the same gas stations both ways, even waited for the same pumps. The payload in the truck was the same both ways. On the way to WV I did not use the ECT button. Cruise control was used both ways...

I switch on the fly with no problem. I'll try using the ECT button on my return trip back to Joisey from WV at the end of this week to see what, if any mileage difference there is.

If I towed with this truck, I'd limit it to 4th gear, 1:1 ratio. Overdrive gears get beaten to death towing. My 06 GMC limited the trans to 1:1 when towing.

Butt dyno here...I can't say as I agree, but have no proof. The engine seems to rev much more freely in ECT mode. I'm not talking to redline, maybe 3600 or a bit less. Again, the chart would be great to see.

I've seen those tests where the ET of the truck was a few parts of a second slower using the ECT mode. I would like to see the horsepower and torque charts overlaid so that you can see the true difference between the standard and ECT mode. Everything else is just a butt dyno.

Since the ECT mode gives the engine more power, why lock out 6th gear when now, with the increased power, the engine may actually have the guts to use 6th gear?

My 06 GMC had one..or two.

My GMC came with 17 inch rims. It REALLY hurt when I replaced the factory tires at 65K. The first thing I looked at on my Tacoma was the rim size.

I guess now would not be the time to mention the interior fuse box in a crappy location and no fuse box schematic in the owners manual?

I saw that kit, and others. But...I just dropped $30K plus on a new 2018 vehicle that has a charging pad for a smart phone that I don't own, but can't design a hood with feckin' springs??? On a 2018 vehicle I should not have to add a hood lifting device that was a stock item on a 1958 VW Beetle...

I feel your pain. I suffer from failed lower back surgery and curse the hood on my 18 TRD off road every time I lift it. Perhaps by 2024 Toyota will see fit to use struts or springs to assist in lifting the heavy ass hood.
