What Vehicles lead you to your Tacoma?

Give me a day or 2 to dig out my old photo albums and scan. Not the best pics since they were taken back in the late '70s early '80s with a 126 Kodak camera. Didn't take alot of pics of my cars back then but do have a few.

    introduction

Welcome from Kansas! You won't go wrong with a Taco. I've owned 3 and have spent less time under the hood & body of them than any other vehicle I've owned. Post up some pics when you have time.

What Vehicles lead you to your Tacoma?

You know it String! :) Those old Int trucks were built like tanks. I had the 1100 series, 3/4 ton p/u, 1st gear true granny and even had a suicide knob (aka brodie knob) on her. Straight front axle. Everything manual, steering, brakes. That thing was a beast. It had a steel diamond plate bumper...

NEw tires, how to keep from being stolen?

Thanks Changeling! They came on the car when I bought it in '79. That alarm I talked about wasn't that expensive and it was wired to the horn. It used a tubular key which I put in the frame and run the wire though the frame so it couldn't be cut. Be hard to do on a Taco since the frames aren't...

Funny you ask I don't have any pics of either AMC vehicles I had. All the others I have some photo's of. However, this is exactly what it looked like, same ugly color. It had a 199 cid straight 6. Auto. But mine was a 2 door.

    Battery problems

I don't think you fried anything unless you crossed the positive & negative up. Could be what whipper says loose or corroded battery terminal. You have an '11 so that battery should last at least 5 yrs. If you can pop the top off, check how much electrolyte is in it. Any cells exposed? Fill...

NEw tires, how to keep from being stolen?

If your really worried about it get a car-alarm with motion and tilt sensors. I put one on my Chevelle back in the day and it would go off if someone so much as touched it. One night someone backed into it, (no damage) but that alarm sure went off. I have original Keystone Classic rims on it...

Does the 12v electrical plug drain when the car is off?

Here ya go Offroad, it's in the Tacoma Models > 2005 - Present Toyota Tacoma What is this for? Thread. Pretty simple install cost under $10. I use it for a trouble light I have that plugs right in has a long cord so can hang it wherever, great for changing a tire in the dark. Here's a...

Does the 12v electrical plug drain when the car is off?

Stinkfoot, as far as I know the 12v outlet that is in cab has the power cut once you turn the key off. Don't quote me on it, but you can test that by plugging something in and turn it on with the key on and then shut the key off. See if it doesn't kill the power flow to it. I have one that...
