    Rear Drum Brakes

Nothing wrong with rear drums as it is they are cheaper to replace when the time comes than disc brakes.

    4.0-Gas Mileage 2WD

No problem. A nice little tool to use is at http://www.fuelly.com Easy way to keep track of your MPG's, I use it everytime I fill-up. 32 fill-ups so far and counting. Keeps track of how much I've spent, average cost, mileage, gallons consumed, etc. Gives you charts and graphs as well. All you...

Transfer Case, Manual transmision and differentials

Ah, same gear oil different drain and fill plugs. I take it you have the 5 spd. The fill & drain plugs are highlighted for your tranny. The transfer case fill & drain plugs are not hard to miss they face the rear of your truck and are 24MM bolts. One hi, one low, you can use 15/16 socket as well.

Transfer Case, Manual transmision and differentials

I used Valvoline Durablend synthetic blend in my front & rear diffs 80W-90 for the transfer case & manual tranny, (I have the 6 spd) I used Royal Purple Max Gear synthetic 75W-90. No issues using those oils. Not sure what yr Taco you have but if it's before '08 check on rear diff for a sticker...

1st Tacoma (2012 Double Cab TRD Sport Magnetic Grey)

X2 but bilstein 5100's all around, use the add a leaf instead of the block. Taco's rear leafs are weak to begin with using the block would add stress to them.

    4.0-Gas Mileage 2WD

Couldn't say since I don't own one. However, I do own a 4WD 4.0 Access cab, reg bed, 16" wheels with 6 speed manual and get 19.4 average MPG w/out A/C on. The past 2 weeks it's been running about a 100° when I drive home from work in the afternoon's so run my A/C and get on average about 18.9...

Repair the salvage Taco or give it up??

Bent frame is still a weaker frame even if you do manage to straighten it. It would never be as strong as it was originally. If it was a 4x4 you could salvage as a trail beater but being a 4x2 as whipper stated a race vehicle only, would not even attempt driving it as a daily driver. However, if...

    Tires

None with my Firestone Destinations either. A/T's are good to have especially in winter. My Taco got me around in 20+ inches of snow with no problems.

    Frame rot

Changeling, I wasn't going to use just plain old paint. I was going to sand down and use a product similar to Eastwood Rust Encapsulator & then use an undercoating, products designed just to stop rust & prevent. Then spray with oil after it dries and cures. I only have small amounts of surface...

    Frame rot

Your welcome Changeling! Hope it helps, a good paint job on a frame and moderate use of oil should prevent rust from occurring, but you should stay on top of it with at least a yearly inspection and also full undercarriage washings to wash any salt off from wintertime. Anything that will...
