Add a leaf or air bags

So i went with timbren stops. Towed the boat for a quick spin up at Yale lake(pretty massive drive and the truck did great if you were wondering) and the timbrens were a bit bouncy. Think I’m either going to saw off about 3/4 of an inch and add some Dakar medium leaf packs soon.

    Off roading

Seriously, just know the limitations and have fun. Always bring someone if you’re new or unsure. Air down. Know your exits. Bring a tow rope.

Add a leaf or air bags

Need some better handling and fighting sag when towing. Thoughts on upgrading the leafs or doing air bags. Thanks

Additional thoughts. I by no means object to the purchase of your dodge. To each their own. I do believe we fundamentally over purchase vehicles in the U.S. Did i feel the boat back there? You bet. Could i have used some more torque? Absolutely. But for 95% of my driving, it’s exactly what fits...

It tows ok. Not great, but workable. The boat w/trailer and fuel is about 4800 lbs. 20’ boat. taco will be fine for day and weekend trips. Going the distance fully packed, I’ll be borrowing a 3/4 ton Chevy. Good luck with the dodge.

2017 Tacoma jerky and sporadic shifting.

I have had a lot of the same issues. Wrote a thread called “what was Toyota thinking.” Some but not all of my issues have cleared up with time. Toyota is over thinking it. Plain and simple.

    Tire and wheel size

First thing to get hammered is usually the rear bumper and sides from my experience. Trucks are long in the tail and the wheelbases are long as well. Opens one up for lots of dents.

    What is Toyota thinking?

Update: 3700 miles. Seems like she’s figuring it out. Engine is more surefooted. Transmission still needs to figure it out most of the time. Still kind of dumb it takes this long.

    16's vs 17's

17” could be a cheaper tire in the long run. They are becoming the standard and more mass produced. Compare prices and sometimes you’ll see a cheaper deal. I was on the 16” wagon until i started to research.

    What is Toyota thinking?

That’s the kind of hope I was looking for. Tight is the perfect word for what the feeling is. Just needs to do some things worse to be more enjoyable. Like an over eager new employee. We will see how she calms down. Maybe I need to drive her harder. Thanks
