Manual trans — trouble shifting into 1st

Still awaiting an official diagnosis but I suspect it may be the parking brake freezing to the rear drum brakes — will post what I find out when I get the truck back. Either way this shouldn’t be happening in 2018.

Manual trans — trouble shifting into 1st

New development: after parked for awhile, huge clunk when attempting reverse. Feels like the parking brake is engaged but it isn’t and it takes a good amount of gas to power through the resistance, huge mechanical clunk and bang. Recorded it on video twice and it happened a total of 3x today...

Manual trans — trouble shifting into 1st

It’s not driver error when you’re in a parking spot, clutch is fully engaged, and it’s not letting you access first but every other gear is open But I wish it was driver error, then I’d at least know what was going on. Ha

Manual trans — trouble shifting into 1st

Just closing the loop since my last post: Took it into the dealership but didn’t have much to say other than logging it for the record. It hasn’t done it much since then so I’m happy. Separately has anyone ever had their auto collision shut off when driving and get the icon?

Steering wheel shakes above 60 mph

I use tirerack.com and have the local spots mount onto rims as there’s not a huge array of options here either. I run two sets of wheels tho so it’s easy to swap in my garage — summer and winter.

Manual trans — trouble shifting into 1st

Oh yeah definitely depressing the clutch all the way. Haven’t ever experienced this in the other manuals I’ve driven (non-Toyota) so likely the truck. Trip to the dealer it is

Manual trans — trouble shifting into 1st

Searched and couldn’t find any threads so asking this forum: Anyone with a manual trans ever find themselves not being able to shift into 1st from neutral? It’s happened to me a few times where I find myself stuck at a green light trying to shift into 1st but can’t. After enough tries it...

    Tpms sensors

Assuming the TPMS sensors are compatible with the Tacoma, you can have a tire shop reprogram your ecu to accept the new sensors or if you’re planning on keeping your oem rims as an extra set, just DIY with the tire rack tool. I swap between winter and all terrains on their own rims with TPMS—...

    TRD OR shopping questions

Go for an 18 or newer — some of the 17s were still plagued with leaky differentials. Fixed for the 18s Not to mention 18 and up you get some minor tweaks like floor mats that are secured to the floor, etc

What have you done to your Tacoma today?

There’s a $100 tool you can buy to DIY this if your extra set of wheels has its own sensors

What have you done to your Tacoma today?

I like how it pops for now. And since it’s underneath the car it doesn’t really matter too much to me

    Tacoma vs 4Runner

Agree with 4Runner vote. I’ve got a 2 year old and a 2 month old in two car seats in my 18 Trd OR and it’s definitely a tight squeeze. If you have 3 go 4runner

    Rack recommendations

Anyone have any recommendations on a bed rack for an “18 Tacoma? I’m looking for something that still lets me use the oem tonneau cover. Prefer not to use KB Voodoo

What have you done to your Tacoma today?

True, I didn’t even ask as it’s a small town and I was ok paying full price. I know I’ll keep this truck forever so might as well buy the parts I want while they still make them for this. Next up is the oem roof rack
