I just ordered the mesh net for this exact reason. I forget the part number but you can get it off amazon for $30. I needed something to throw smaller items in the back without hearing them every time I stop and go.

Status update: apparently no leak. They say it was just a smudge that resembled fluid. I checked it out while it was on the lift and everything checked out. I’ll keep an eye on it just in case and now it’s documented in the event something were to happen later.

It’s likely from the default ac setting of interior recirculation when you turn on your air. I always switch my recirculate (default on) to off to allow outside air to vent in otherwise the trapped moisture from recirculating eventually causes mold and mildew to grow. No real way to clean...

Can you post a video of the sound? I’m curious what it sounds like... ‘18 manual here and haven’t heard anything unusual.

Haha thanks all and I agree — these are new enough it’s just not really needed yet. And RE my experience, just an avid DIYer coming from Audis so I’m excited to have much more space in the engine compartment when tackling this platform.
