I don't do extreme wheeling. I 4wheel to get to places I want to go...not for the sake of 4wheeling. So I try to be careful and avoid the knarly stuff as much as I can. However...I've tore all four mudflaps off...and ripped the trailer lights socket off. Scrapped up the rear bumper...and...
Dawg...DO THE SWITCH...and order it soon. I think he has quit making them...and is now selling his remaining stock. I've done the switch mod and it is safe and easy. No way to fry the truck. You could fry a fuse or two...but the truck will be fine...and you will have a lit switch.
Those have GOT to be the most popular tire on the road. I see them all day long. I used to tun them on my wife's old '91 Pathfinder. Those tires got us through everything (only got stuck in snow once). They are long-lived tire, road noise is acceptable. Good sidewall protection. I tended...
First you gotta answer a few questions for yourself.
1) What to you want the truck to do? That will give you a direction to go with your modifications.
2) How much money do you have to spend? I never go cheap...when I can spend more and get quality.
3) Are looks or performance more...
Back before I had a shell on the back and the bed was exposed I was able to pick up a used Tuffy box...at a big discount over new. Not sure I would have paid full price for it. But it's nice to have the theft protection and the weather proofing...
Always DeWalt for me. Most of my power tools are DeWalt. They seem to be top quality. I very much dislike Craftsman. Don't be fooled. Their power tools are not made in the U.S.A. like they'd like you to assume (not that DeWalt is either).
ANYTHING outdoors.
1) Climbing/hiking/camping
2) Motorcycling
3) Weightlifting
4) Woodworking
soon to be...
5) Paragliding
Here I am last Aug in the Sierra Nevada Range after topping out on the Middle Palisade.
I'm only the second "No" on the pole. My truck will go as long as a month w/o being driven if I'm working too much to get out in the "woods". I prefer the wind in my face. I ride my motorcycle rain/shine/hot/cold.
07' Yamaha FJR...as heavily modded as my Tacoma. Set up for long-distance...
Two Access Cap pic treads...so I'm hitting them both.
Mine is an '05 Super White Sport Edition. Far from the stock truck I bought used a few years back.
Here is my '05 Super White Sport Edition. It looks nothing like the day I bought it used. It was bone stock then. It's no where near stock today...and I feel I'm only 1/2 way to where I want it to be. This thing is worse than a boat as a money pit...
My '05 Tacoma is the ONLY Toyota I've every owned. Up until this truck it's been ALL GMCs. I have owned a lot of Honda, Yamaha, and BMW motorcycles though.
A couple pics of the Avid lightbar I mentioned above...including the hit it took. I've since fix it and you'd never know it happened.
It's a sweet thing!
Beached and high-centered on a boulder.
Bar saved me a lot of damage. Still mangled the tin-skid.
