New to forum and first Tacoma

Okay, after going back and rereading your post, I now wonder if you're trying to put a set of Jeep wheels on a Tacoma. So what is it? Do you have a 5 lug or 6 lug truck?

New to forum and first Tacoma

If I read your post correctly (where you talk about needing an adaptor to go from 5 lug to 6 lug) you have what is referred to as a 5 lug truck. If you have a 5 lug (not a PreRunner or a 4X4) I'm not sure the 245 will fit. The stock tire (I think) is only a 215. Does it come stock with a 15"...

    Looking for new wheels

Look on Craigslist or on other forums. I found a number of sets for $200 on Craigslist, but I wound up buying a set of TRD OR wheels from a member on TW for $125, complete with center caps and lugs. They were in great shape, off of a 2012 model. I just bought new tires and got them in my truck...

Check out Brazos Off-Road Ranch near College Station/Bryan and there's also a place near Huntsville, but the name escapes me right now.

    TPMS sensors

You can get them at any tire store. Discount Tire quoted me a price of $56 each and they will program them to your truck.

    Speedometer adjustment

Unless you're making a really big change in tire size, the effect might not be too noticeable. In fact, Toyotas, for the most part, seem to be slightly off from the factory. Prior to my Tacoma (which seems to be off 1-2 mphs according to my Garmin GPS) I drove a Camry the always indicated about...

    Speedometer adjustment

What I'm trying to say is that if your tires are too small, you'll actually be going slower that your speedometer indicates.

    Speedometer adjustment

No, that's not true. Speedometer essentially reads how fast the wheel is turning. Smaller tire covers less ground every revolution, so vehicle is actually going slower than indicated. A simplification, but that's the basic idea.

    Hilux in the US???

Yeah, they just introduced a new truck a couple of months ago and in 2 years they're going to discontinue it? I think that's probably not going to happen. One thing I remember from my time in the service is that the military runs on rumors. LOL

    MP3 doesn't work with Entune????

And along that line...if you use purchase music through iTunes and download it, it comes as an mp4a. Plays great on Apple devices. Not 100% sure but I think if you use iTunes to rip a CD, you also get the mp4a.

    Prerunners get better gas mileage?

I've gotten 22.5 on half a dozen tanks or so of strictly highway driving. My overall gas mileage for 2 years is 19.1.

    Prerunners get better gas mileage?

Prerunner should get better mileage than a 4x4, but will not get mileage as good as a 5 lugger.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR TACOMA TODAY?

Had roof and hood color sanded to remove discoloration caused by bird droppings. While at the body shop I had them paint the base PreRunner grill shell. Today I washed, waxed, and treated all trim pieces with Aerospace 303 protectant.

3 inch lift on 5lug Tacoma

Actually, I've seen a few 5 lug trucks that have been lifted that look pretty good. Think of a PreRunner without the fender flares. As was mentioned, check out Tacoma World and you'll find a little more information

Towing with a 4 cylinder engine

In the past year I've helped my son move his things from central Texas to Denver and then from Denver back to central Texas. Rented U-Haul trailers both times. Trailers weigh just under 1000 pounds empty and I figure about 1200 pounds or so in the trailer. Wouldn't want to do it on a regular...
