    Gas mileage

We average 18.0-18.5 mpg pretty consistently around town. When we get on the freeway, it drops to around 16 or so cuz the speed limit is 75-80 mph.

    Windshield dark at night

I've never noticed this on our 2021 TRD PRO, but our truck has the LED headlights. I also run the fog lights at night.

    differents height in lifting

FWIW, late model Land Cruisers have the same problem. With no fix available from Toyota.

    Soy based wiring insulation

When we first moved into our current house--about 10 years ago--we had a really bad mouse infestation problem due to the previous owners having lots of pets and lots of pet food available. After about 2 years of trapping and poisoning, we haven't had a problem since. Having a neighbor's cat...

The truck doesn't accelerate as if it has a supercharger (which costs about $8000), but there seems to be a bit more power when you punch it. The overall driveability of the truck is where I see and feel the difference, and it's fantastic.

The installer claimed that the installation of the tune was NOT detectable by Toyota. Not sure what they would do if they could detect it. Don't really care--for now.

2021, but that KDMAX "tune" is ONLY available for 3rd Gen V6 Tacomas. Not cheap, $400.00, but worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Only wish I had done it sooner.

Drove the truck over to Denver and had a KDMAX tune installed. OMG, what a world of difference. The transmission shifts like a real vehicle now. Really smooth shifts and NO MORE seeking between 4th, 5th and 6th. Worth every penny!

The only snow we saw was at the 3-point corner about 1/4 way down the shale section from the top. Didn't impede our progress. There were a couple of cars (not trucks/SUVs) parked at the top of the pass. Had to have been driven up from 550, as they wouldn't have been able to traverse the shale...

Drove over Ophir Pass Wednesday. Great fun and spectacular views. The shale portion of the trail was MUCH rougher than I remembered, just had to take it slow.

What did you do with your Taco today

Yesterday we attempted to drive "Old Lime Creek Road" in Southern Colorado from the South end to the North end (it bypasses Coal Bank Pass on hwy 550). FAIL! Too early in the season, and after we had driven 3/4 of the way (9 miles? out of 12), we encountered way too much drift snow that we...

    JBL upgrade

Mr. Noveske, please do us a favor and let us know how your speaker swap turned out, and if it was good, then please add a link to your writeup on TW. Of course, if the operation was not successful, we need to know that too. Thanks in advance.

    JBL upgrade

I'm going to follow this thread as I have the JBL in our truck and I sure feel that Toyota has done a really poor job with the speakers. We also have a Lexus RX350 with the Mark Levinson sound system, which sounds fantastic in comparison. I know Toyota doesn't wish to mess up Lexus sales by...

What did you do with your Taco today

Sure, I've done a number of trails. Some on 18 Road and some in the Loma area. Really great trails, but quite a ways for me to drive as I'm South of GJ in Whitewater. Also, at 73 y.o., I don't do many of the tougher trails any more as crashing hurts much more than it used to. I still have a...

What did you do with your Taco today

Drove to Fruita for pizza at the Hot Tomato. Surprised that Fruita still has a "Takeout Only" policy for all restaurants. A bit chilly for eating outside, but the pizza was fantastic.

Added some Total Chaos bed stiffeners to the rear corners of the bed. A bit concerned about bed flex with the new RSi Smart Cap. Simple install, just took some time.

Please comment. Does your off road crawl control work $

New 2021 Pro, purchased in Dec. 2020. First time off-road in Moab last Friday and we tried the Crawl Control just to make sure it was working (didn't need it). Happy to say it worked fine. Just super noisy, which is normal. Definitely something I won't use unless it's absolutely necessary.

    Front Suspension Clunk

Check the front body mounts. Seems they are prone to failure on the earlier (2016/2017) Gen 3 Tacomas. Some folks have replaced them more than once. They seem to self-destruct and allow the front end to bang/clunk on the frame over bumps in the road.

    2021 limited

First, check out some other Tacoma forums to see if anyone else has found a bumper solution that you like. If that fails, you may have to visit the individual bumper manufacturers to see if any of them have a solution for you. IIRC, I have seen several bumpers that have sensor holes, or at...

    What's lost disconnecting battery?

Which tweeters did you use? I'm interested in doing this mod, but only if the new ones are really close to plug-and-play.
