alarm off

Hello, I've just started hearing a ticking noise under dash. It is intermittent and now louder than it used to be I think, with clutch in and out. Does anyone have any thoughts on what it might be? and is there an easy way to turn off alarm? Shop want's $120 to dismantle it. It's a 1996...
