Hey all, recently bought this 1st gen with 215k and a clean carfax. It has no apparent issues regarding running (no miss/ stutter etc) except a check eng light and low power. By low power I mean my ‘97 3.4 taco will pull 45-67 mph on a known grade at WOT. This truck on the same grade will not even crack 60 (45-59 mph). Looking up some stock 5VZ auto trucks 0-whatever, this ‘02 of mine is akin to a 22re.
I bought an OBD2 scanner to check the check eng code and the scanner will not pair up with the truck. It simply tries to pair and ends up saying something like “failed connection, try again”.
Hooking the same scanner to my ‘97 it shows full data loads fine etc. Anyone have any recommendations or suggestions? Thanks!
