2005 tacoma V6 stopping issues

Hi all, new here and am having some probs with my truck that I'm sure someone here is familiar with. If i hit the brakes fairly hard, not skidding, then resume, a sort of clunk sound happens, like a lag or brake drums letting go? Any ideas?
