3.5 engine noises

Whats up with the loud clatter diesel like noises in some of these engines. I realize their direct injected, but my 2020 tacoma has always been fairly quiet vs a buddies newer 2022 that he's been whining about since he's heard, and driven mine. They both have about the same mileage with a little over 3k more on mine. I don't think he has a vacuum pump issue yet?...just seems like his is aways in the cleaning cycle.
Ever since he bought this truck, I feel like I'm married to it after he liked mine so much, and I didn't even sell him it.

This isn't a clown around thread.....you've got your other multi- worthless threads you've created to do that. Asking a serious question for a friend. Unless you've got some worthwhile info, keep the peanut gallery remarks to yourself.
