Broken screen replacement for Premium 7" screen

So I damaged the LCD on my 2016 Tacoma. I brought it into the dealer to get a price on a replacement. I was told that the technician didn't see any signs of impact or abuse to the unit so it should be covered under my extended warranty. The touch function still works and the radio works normally (aside from the dead spots on the screen). Well I got a call this morning that my radio was at the dealer BUUUUUUT it would not be covered under my extended warranty and would cost me $3176.58 to have the unit replaced. Any suggestions????

Oh yeah, they are out of stock as is just every high end unit. Put in your order to be ready next year, maybe.

I did a $300 Chinese Joying radio replacement for a camry which was plug and play.....I preferred it as I can stream prime and Netflix while driving. It's not perfect but I love it.

Still have my original in the garage that I would let go. Hit me up in a week or two. I should be back home by then.

Are you saying you watch television in the car while you're driving? You're kidding, right? Right? Right! :(

Where do you live so I can avoid you!

Yes! I can turn on streaming services while I drive and I can search GPS locations while moving.....mostly to benefit the passengers.

Makes me wonder, exactly what does the extended warranty cover?
Does the paperwork show electronics?
It says it includes electronic components. They have a clause about damaged mirrors and displays. I think they just don't cover displays no matter the fault.

After extensive searching I found a source for a Toyota premium 7" radio LCD. The radio is manufactured by Panasonic and the display LCD is manufactured by LG. They do not stock the LCD in America so I had to have it sent from China. A little over two weeks and I am now the proud owner of a new LCD. Now to install it IMG_1205.jpeg image.jpeg IMG_1204.jpeg IMG_1205.jpeg

How much was just the screen. Because I have a JBL Premium Headunit out of a 2019 I'd dump. Lol.

I paid $67.58 for the display and $77 shipping. I got the screen pretty quickly and it functions exactly as the original. The seller said that he had seen this issue before with the LG screens. I reached out to LG and they acknowledged this as being a rare issue. Since I already paid for and installed the LCD, LG offered to reimburse the price of the screen replacement or compensate me with another LG product to choose from. I took option 2 and LG took care of the rest. It's nice to know that there are some companies that still offer good customer service.
