Going to go trailing and want to know if anyone has any experience with handhelds as opposed to CB radios while they are hitting trails?

I had a CB, it was pretty cool. Hand held is probably easier and more simple though. But I think cb generally has more range, I presume.

My group uses HAM. The reception is night and day over CB. The cert test is easy.
