Clutch Noise

I have a 2006 Tacoma (Standard Transmission). I hear a squealing noise when the clutch is engaged (clutch pedal up) and the noise stops when clutch is depressed (clutch pedal pressed in). I was told it is the throw out bearing going bad. Is this something that needs to be changed right away? Will it damage anything if I don’t change it?

If it was me I’d change it sooner than later.

Sounds like a throw out bearing to me, from your description. Sooner than later for sure. Might as well change the clutch disc, pressure plate and resurface the flywheel while you're in there, and slave cylinder if you choose, then you don't have to look back at it for another 12 years.

Why don’t you just replace the clutch while you’re in there. :D
