Don't think this is normal

I have a 17 Taco, 3.5 auto. When I down shift rpms increase and speed continues to increase. My 11 Taco slowed down when down shifting.

Doesn't sound like anything is wrong. Could be that the new engine doesn't brake as strong as the previous one.

It kinda makes sense..... when you downshift your putting more load on the engine causing the RPM to raise. Whenever you rev a gear you’ll get more speed.
