Family + 2 Dogs

Hi all,
I need to get a pickup truck for light-duty diy home projects and dump runs. I love the 4 door Tacoma TRD Sport with the manual transmission. But, I need to fit a family of 4 and 2 90-pound dogs in it. Looks like the only way to make that work is to strap down a couple of crates in the bed. The kids won’t exactly be able to pet the dogs. But, the dogs will be safe. Does anyone have this setup? How has it worked for you?

Maybe a bed cap with a pass thru for the sliding rear glass would work better. Better protection from the elements for the dogs plus a little heat in the winter and they could stick their heads thru the wibdow to get a pet.

I forgot about bedcaps! That might actually be the way to go! Thanks!
