Fuel gauge problem

Ok I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma that has a fuel gauge problem. It reads "full" but is not. I ran out of gas to find that out. So I took it to my guy who works on my truck and he thought that it may be the sending unit,...it wasn't. So he used three fuel pumps to check and it still registered a full tank?? So at this point we don't know what it could be, anyone have any Ideas?
Thanks,

It could be the gauge itself or the wireing to the giage.

I found this thread because I have the OPPOSITE problem.
The next few starts after I fill the tank, it will show completely empty.
After about 2-3 starts it will start working again.

Sounds like one of those electrical gremlins got into your truck. Hate those dang things. I would check the wiring under the dash. Could be a loose ground.
