Get a pair of more powerful reading glass's ....23270 is your fuel filter.

'yes i already looked at the part

it is called the

Fuel Pressure Pulsation Damper Assy

here...

138 MSRP

but it does not say fuel FILTER like i thot it ought

I just got done asking a friend about the fuel filter on these 2.7 tacoma's......you're right, it's in the tank...said toyota deleted the external ones around 2005 for their 2.7. Said to use only top tier fuel, and your likely to never have an issue.

Dirt and dust could somewhat easily get into the tank
Or some other foreign substance?

Idk, could have water in your fuel tank to. My trucks owner manual has bold lettering alerting you to use only a top tier fuel for these 3.5 engines which I have. I would think if water in the fuel line, your fuel line would freeze by now with your truck not starting if the case.
Maybe even electrical with a bad plug, or coil acting up.

a quick calculation on the '97 Gen1 with 341k miles n' smiles
i have now put in approx. over 17000 gallons of tacoJuice in almost 27 years
U can only imagine how much dirt, sand and schizzzz might be floating around the bottom of the tank
perhaps i should stick the camera in and scope it out if possible

Just flush out your tank, and see what crap comes out, if you need to know. Generally whenever you fill up at the gas pumps, the pumps have a very good filter already. Whatever small particles it might miss that get into your truck, get picked up by your trucks inline fuel filter before it goes into the fuel injectors.
Still don't see the point of just driving around wasting fuel on endless miles.
