I know the placement of a hood bug deflector on the 2016+ model can look weird because of the grill and hood set back. Does anyone have photos or a recommendation for one that looks good? I want access underneath to wax and easy mount.

There’s plenty of options out there. If you go low profile (which most are) it’ll be a pain to wax under.
Also, they’re notorious for bumping and scratching the paint.
I had one on a 1994 4 runner and I had one was on a Chevy Tahoe and it rubbed the paint off in a few places. I said I’d never put another one on any other vehicle. That’s just my experience with them.
My 2007 Tundra and my 2017 Tacoma I had the 3M protective film installed on the front part of the hood/bumper/fenders. It does a great job at protecting against rocks, branches and bugs.
