It's because it had a truck bed and really the frame has nothing to do with anything. Probably won't rust as easily as a Tacoma.

I don't care about the Tacoma I want it in the Tundra. Although the torque would be nice off-road.What's this diesel need? It won't do anything for the Tacoma except for mileage which is offset by initial purchase cost, fuel cost and maintenance cost. Don't forget repairs.

Low range gives you more than enough torque.
