Jeep owner considering a 4th Gen Taco

First, I've got my fire proof suit on so feel free to flame me for being a Jeep owner. I get it. lol

I've been a life long Jeep owner. I've had 4 different Wranglers and a Cherokee. The old box style. When they were made to go off-road. I'm currently driving a 2015 Unlimited Rubicon that I've dumped about $15K worth of mods into and I'm wondering if it's time for a change. While I love my JK I never take the hard top panels off, I never take the doors off, it gets TERRIBLE gas milage (35's and 4:88's will do that), and Jeep culture seems to be changing or at least it's completely different here in Florida where I just moved from where I came from. No one waves, the duck thing is out of hand, and people seem more interested in 22" rims and decals than anything wheeling related.

I've been seriously considering ditching it in favor of a TRD i-FORCE MAX with the Off Road Premium Package or a Trailhunter. I just wish the Trail Hunter didn't come in such limited color choices.

I understand the 4th Gen has had some issues with the transmissions. It also seems some people are complaining that the onboard air compressor on the Trailhunter isn't reliable.

What do I need to know when buying a Taco?
Do I need to regear to run 35's?
How much extra articulation do you get with the swaybar disco?
Any must have mods?

Thanks gang!

Sorry to hear you've been a jeep owner that long...had to be a stressful situation.
Can't say anything about the gen4 taco other than taking a test drive with one. I do know 33 tires will fit without any mods. I'm not into mods unless for serious off-road use all the time. These tacoma's are very capable in stock trim for a combination of uses one is likely to encounter....at least my gen3 has served me well so far.
Maybe jay here will chime in on the gen4, he seems to know more about it.
