Off-Road on Portugal's Algarve Region

Planning a trip to Portugal's Algarve region next year and dreaming about taking a rental Tacoma on some off-road adventures. I've heard there are some epic trails but finding info about rental Tacomas is proving tricky.

Anyone have experience renting off-road capable vehicles in Portugal? Or better yet, know any good trail recommendations in the Algarve region? Thanks in advance!
 
Heck why go across the pond for trail adventure. There's enough south of the border here. You can easily rent a 4wd hilux to play with.

I have done a few off-road trails closer to home, but I'm set on experiencing the unique landscapes and trails in Portugal's Algarve region while on a business trip. I'll continue my search for similar off-road vehicles since I still can't find a rental Tacoma.

Perhaps a compromise could be to explore more domestic off-roading opportunities in the US while planning an international trip focused on culture and relaxation. I'm considering a private car tour from https://gowithguide.com/portugal/sintra to explore the enchanting town of Sintra, and save the extreme off-roading adventures for another time.
