Shifter light and dash lights 2004 Tacoma

So I just had a new stereo installed in my truck. Everything works great except half my dash lights went out along with the light on the shifter knob. Weird thing is, the lights on the ash tray, lighter and ac knobs all work. I took it back to the installer and he checked all the wiring and also checked all the fuses inside and under the hood. All checked out. Someone told me the dash lights are famous for going out do to bad connections over time and to try and giving the dash a good bump with your fist. Low and behold 1/2 the dash lights came back on. The shifte knob is still out however. I did go over a large bump the other day that was rather jarring. He also checked the voltage going to the wires by the shifter and all looked good. Anyone have any ideas? I’m new to the forum.

Welcome to the forum.
You’ve undoubtedly got a loose connection or bad fuse.
I’d retrace the wiring down one more time.

Welcome to the forum. Sucks you're having issues. I was just looking at buying a 2004 Tacoma DC OR. BTW... @Bogunn knows a thing or two. Mostly likes to help with self growth. :)

Love my 2004, dash lights are minor. Runs great.

My last first gen was a 2004 regular cab 2.7 liter.
I bought it in July, 2004 because they were changing to the second gens and my 2002 bed was already starting to rust out. Lol.
I had that truck for a long time. I’d have kept that truck forever if it wasn’t a regular cab. A first gen regular cab wasn’t feasible for a family.

I bet it’s worth more money now than when you sold it.

Well if your stereo power is hooked up to your dash lights it might be too much power drain try a different power source I use too love hooking up too the cigarette lighter power it never got used LOL but maybe try a little larger fuse[emoji106]
