I did search, I swear, but nothing directly related to what I need.

2015 SR5 4 CYL 4WD
Stock wheels. Tires 245/75-16
Certified used and dealer put on incredibly cheap Primewell Valera HT
These tires are actually not bad in snow (10-12" blizzard and I was whipping around the neighborhood in 4WD with no problems), but slip with the smallest amount of rain and the brand is the subject of a massive recall. I want them off.

What I want, if it exists, is this.
Tire I can drive all year.
Decent for regular driving, but better in rain.
I do not need any off road capabilities.
I know snow tires are best for snow, I want the best all year that does snow well the few times I need it.
If an AT tire fits my needs, I'm open to that too.
If I am dreaming and no such tire exists, how about a good summer tire and a good winter tire?

Every tire has so many mixed reviews. Here are a few I am considering. Does anyone have direct experience with these or something else they like?

Michelin Defender LTX M/S: Everyone seems to like, but $$$ and complaints of road noise after 5k or so, some problems going out of round and not all that great in snow or really great in snow.

KUMHO CRUGEN HT51: Good all around, some say good in snow, but some say not great in wet. Some say quiet as a whisper, others say noisy beyond belief. Often compared to the Michelins above - "poor mans" version of LTX M/S

My exact tire is not recalled, but it is a huge recall and the tires are garbage. I just ordered BFG T/A KO2s! I went crazy. Wheels too.
Goodluck, the bfg ta have been absolute **** since inception on snow, ice, and rain.
Maybe....maybe the kbro2 is better than the last 2 generations.

Hmm tire rack does rate them well for winter... amazing, only took bfg 3 generations to pull their heads outta their asses.

They truly sucked when I had no weight in the bed! Had 12-15 sets on work trucks and several of my own. Fiberglass caps on my truck beds which allowed me keeping tools and other weight all the time helped. KO 2’s much better in the Snow since they came out!

That’s what I would have suggested. You’ll be happy with them. Post pictures.

I hope so. I called Tirerack and this time had a rep who seemed honest and informative. His two top picks were the K02 and Michelin Defender LTX. The former being bada$$ the latter dependable and well made, but a little on the soccer mom side of tires in aesthetics. Did I make a mistake? I guess time will tell.

It's crazy out here for tires. It doesn't seem to matter which tire you look up, at stores or here or anywhere, there are people who love them and people who hate them. One guys says great in rain/snow/noise/wear, another says they suck in rain/snow/noise/wear... They might also be Tacoma owners. Who do you believe? There seems no source of truth unless you weigh the good vs bad review proportion.

However, I can be sure of at least one thing. Anything will be better than the Primewell garbage that are on there now. In my driveway or even on a hill at a light, with just a little rain I was unable to get up without slipping like crazy and a few times turned on 4WD.

I spent weeks on tacomaworld.com which has MANY more members, threads, and much more info when i contemplated bfg.

I also sat back and evaluated the tread pattern on the at and the KO. They are both minimally siped, and have terrible water evacuation channels. Those 2 tires spelled out "****" in braille if u ran ur fingers across them.

When i seen the ko2 pattern i was impressed with the channeling they made and more/deeper siping. It just took so long for them to address the poor pattern and they rode on their name with zero foxes for decades, and i just cant seem to give them money unless it was for an autocross vehicle and some kdw's

So they suck on tacomas too? I’ve had them on 3/4 tons and they chip like crazy but a lot of ppl have good luck on mid size-half ton

Lmao...BFG haters...lol. Righty, you will be fine.
Till the day i die.
Im also not buying a hyudai or a kia unless i do lyft or uber on the side.

Then again, like i said earlier, i may run kdw on a track vehicle..... just never a bfg ta on any vehicle for me.

did you ever end up purchasing either of these tires? im researching both of them for my truck im leaning towards the Kumho crugen ht51 but there are more positive reviews than negative but some are completely 180 degrees from what another reviewer says which bothers me. I do like MICHELIN Defenders but wouldn't mind getting a replica tire that is just as good for almost half the cost.

20190126_144030_Burst01.jpg I had 3 sets of kuhmos on my tundra exsta stx 285 60 18 and got 30 -35 k no. Complaints with Kuhmo just didn't have the size I wanted for the taco so I got hankook dyna pro atm like them alot not to noisy and gas mpg is close tto the Firestones I took off
