Tranny problems 09 Tacoma

So a few months ago I posted a thread on my transmission problem. Low RPM shifting made the whole truck shake and shudder. Got it diagnosed at the dealership. Turns out it's the torque converter. Due to the high mileage on my truck they recommended a remanned tranny. So I will be buying a remanned tranny from JC Whitney with a 3 year warranty and installing it myself. $2,300. Im hoping with this new tranny I can last at least another 10 years. Does anyone have any better ideas with what I should do?

I would go with the reman. How many miles on your truck?

How hard do u drive?
If the trucks seeing some hard use, id look into a bulletproof setup from john at IPT transmission

And how many miles did the stocker last?

Did you maintain it?

Also not seeing them on jcwhitney site. I was curious, as i have a lil over 100k on my stock trans.

Edit, see em now

I did use a lot of weight in the bed which I'm not going to do anymore. And it wasn't maintained which I will from now on

I've replaced 2 A340F trannies , one on my 2000 the other on my 04', first thing to do is follow the trans maint. service religiously, do it or it will fail & I cannot stress enough to install 3rd party trans cooler (I have a Hayden myself) It seems that heat is THE biggest problem these have , as far as used trans go, I spent around $1000 for a used one with 6 month warranty, no way would I pay $3400 for a rebuild...

I thunked $2300 for a 3yr reman with unlimited mile warranty for an A750 was kinda reasonable no?

Another option in thinking of doing is just going with the $600 TC and call it a day. 150,000 miles on the tranny itself with no maintenance history.

This is what happens when lack of maint. & excessive heat wins , this was my 2000 ,in park, engine idling, sounds like $3400 to me haha, the more info I gathered the more I'm convinced that heat is the main issue with these particular transmissions, I've had automatics that I drove for years without even checking the fluid (no reason to, everything was ok)
but these are a little fussy, maintain them, keep the heat down & these will last forever, if ya don't well....

It's also worthy to note that the torque converters (in both gens. IIRC) have a tendency grenade as well (due to over heating) Look at it like this, the only thing that lubes the transmission/converter/little rubber seals etc; is the trans fluid (which is 100% detergent) now if the fluid is allowed to over heat (boil) not only does it turn to a froth of bubbles & cease to lubricate , now you have internal seals that have been either destroyed or seriously damaged & on a fast track to failure..

Plus factory underfilled since 05 adding to the heat

If I could dip stick it and drain and fill easy no biggie on the maintain. It's like trying to take the hottest girl in the bar home now. It's a process.
Unlike that fake, u can expect more mileage for less cost outta the tacoma with less drama.

You also wont have the tacoma leaving the garage every morning for the 1st 6 months before you wake up to fix its face and sneak back into the garage like it never woke up.
