Walmart value battery?

looking for a new battery for my original OEM 24f, anyone have any experience with Walmarts value line battery only about $69 plus tax. its made by Johnson controls same as the OEM one that made an unbelievable 11 years and still barely starts, it has 1 year warranty and 600CCA. my truck has no aftermarket electrical add-ons just standard daily driver so excessive power is not needed. Also have looked at INTERSTATE,TRUESTART,DIEHARDS Autozone,Advanceauto and all are at the $200 mark or more, Im not quite sure about putting an expensive battery in which a few maybe made by the same Johnson controls company as the cheap cost Wallyworld into an 11 year old truck.
 
Do not buy a Walmart low end never start value line battery. They suck...had 2 of them in my tractor, and they didn't even last the 90 day warranty period. Auto zone has an econoline battery thats a little more money, but lasts way longer. I've had one in my tractor for over 2 years now, and it's still very good.
If you want just a good lead/acid battery, and willing to spend some money, get a Deka east Penn. Best lead/acid battery I've had in my vehicles, and boat. I've gotten 10 years from deka's.
Btw, your guy in the video is full of it about walmart...walmart doesn't check batteries. You bring in a dead battery to them within the warranty period, and you get another of the exact type free, but only for the remainder of the first batteries warranty.....which could only be a day left.

its in and seems to be working fine for $75.36 total w/tax, the fit was a little different tha the OEM even tho this battery was just slightly thinner in the length, the rear j hook on the truck needed to be a little longer only about less than 1/4" to truly fit with absolute perfection, but i got her done and secured to Walmart specs no biggie. was fine. The original was a toyota motor corp Johnson controls made in USA part lasted 11 years at 156336 k miles longest lasting battery i ever owned, model was 28800-03044 582 amps 125 reserve capacity. We'll see if the Wally Value Johnson can live up to those standards. sorry about the cock-eyed picture.

this ones got a 12 month full warranty if it meets the criteria of being a dead battery, i kind of rolled the dice a little on this batt. cause money is tight to spend too much on a 11 year old truck, if i get 3 years out of it i'll be satisfied.

If you got a 12 month warranty, thats got to be something new they now have. Those cheap $79 wally world batteries here had only 90 days, and they weren't made by johnson controls either like the regular everstart line wally world carries for over $100. Their el-cheapo line were excide batteries when I bought them.
All I can say is I hope you have better luck than I did with those low end batteries.

seems to be made by CLARIOS who now own Johnson controls brand, although the label on the battery doesnt say specifically whom made it, im hoping its not an EXIDE thats a really **** brand they also make NAPA brand batteries not too good from reviews, but reviews on tires,oil, wax are always skewed to the point of you almost cannot go by them.

They exist on paper, but I have not seen one in years. Are they still being sold?

just found out my Value battery in made by east Penn manufacture which makes DEKA batteries in ,USA, my serial number starts with EP=East Penn if it was JC=Johnson contrrols

Yeah, as far tires and oil, you could take 10 different tire brands, or oil, and get 10 different opinions which are best.
I get a laugh out of guys that only buy the vehicle manufactures products while spending twice as much. They don't seem to realize a lot of that stuff is sourced from the same automotive supply companies, only to put their name on it to be retailed for more money.

Thats definitely new if the case....they must of switched. East Penn makes good products. I'd guess ol wally world must of had a bunch of issues with their past battery supplier. I'll have to check out their battery rack the next time I'm at wally world.

from what im reading they do have different suppliers depending where you live East Penn manufacturing supplies the East coast USA since they are located in Pennsylvania other areas of the US look at the first 2 letters in the serial number that will tell who made it, im pretty glad mines a east penn they have a pretty good to excellent reputation for batteries especially AGM ones, we will see. Johnson controls was sold to CLARIOS whom maybe Mexican or central american made depending on what model, Johnson controls were at one time exclusively US made i think. EXIDE is an Indian company dont know what country they come from.
 
Well I'm on the east coast here in southern new england. As far as excide, I think they went belly up a few years ago after making crap batteries. I don't know who owns them now, but I hear they've reorganized trying to regain market share. They might be still producing batteries for wally world. Excide is worldwide.
As for deka, they make batteries for several auto parts dealers including places like carquest, and lowes home improvement.

i think ACE Hardware sells DEKA but not at the Wallyworld price point if Penn East quality carries over to the Wally Value battery than thats a truly good deal.IMO
 
Another value battery called econocraft for autozone is made by east penn, johnson controls, and excide depending what part of the country your in. Although they come with a 90 day warranty, mine is going on it 3rd year in my tractor. I suspect its an east penn.
As far as wally world, and other big box stores, many of their items sold are scaled down versions of the same product model as smaller independent companies will sell. It's just another reason other than buying in large bulk, they can sell for less money. I've bought vacuum cleaners, and electronic items from walmart, and home cheapo that didn't have the same internals as ones of the same model sold in hardware stores.You get what you pay for.

might be like OE(installed at factory)parts and OEM parts the OE's is what genuine toyota parts dept.s sell, and OEM parts like DENSO Aftermarket are good replacements but not exactly the same standard as OE parts from genuine toyota denso, although they are decent parts compared to whats out there
 
I've used a number of aftermarket denso parts in my toyota trucks over the years...some like filters are pretty much the same while others like o2 sensors, and other electronic components are a tad lesser grade quality than what toyota specs from denso, but they have all worked fine just the same for less money. Personally, unless your wealthy, and got extra funds to piss away, I can't see any reason to always buy original toyota components, especially steel components like engine shields that become damaged. Cheaper to fix them even if having to see a welder.
 
aftermarket DENSO cabin filters i use are great for the price i get them from HOMEDEPOT with free shipping or free store pickup i cant bring myself to buy the Genuine toyota denso Cabin filters at that price they want no matter how good they are. FYI i started using a Protec(Wix) pxa49155 Air filter for the 2.7l engine they are just as good as the OE filter although Chinese made, ROCKAUTO has a:cool: closeout on them at $2.48 a pop
 
Same here buying denso cabin filters for my gen3. I can get them delivered to my home from rockAuto cheaper than driving to the toyota dealer.
 
I guess it depends where you're located. Most items have fairly inexpensiv shipping when I've ordered them. Its the toyota dealers that always cost a lot to ship something here, even when their so called parts & accessories deals are announced...its why I don't dealer directly with toyota....you'll go broke on the shipping costs alone. You have to look on eBay for deals...many vendors have free shipping, just keep an eye what the actual cost of what product their selling if in the ballpark, or not.
