What size wheels are best ?

There's not much of a difference between the two, it really comes down to personal preference, what size is available in a wheel you like, ect. I'm going from a 17 to a 16 because my Tacoma is offroad more than it's on asphalt, it needs all the help it can get. Haha
 
Some tire manufacture make more options in 17” than 16” but the extra 1” of side wall helps in some situations. Making sure that the rim you’re putting the tire on isn’t to wide that will help keep the bead strong.
8.5” is as wide as I’d go for a 285
8” on a 275
7” on a 265
