Has anyone used or found an alternate bracket for the Advantedge 5 1/2" x 85" side bars?
I'm specifically looking for it be lowered and stick out just a bit more cause right now, even at 5 1/2" so I can get solid footing going in and out. As it is now, you lose about an inch of stepping space since it's right in line with the door frame and your foot can't clear the door frame so you end up kicking it. Getting out is also tricky as even my kids have to go 'slow' so they don't slip and fall out. This is not what I was looking for when I purchased these. In fact, I thought I was going to be good at 5 1/2" since other step bars average 4".
I contacted Aries to see if they had 'extenders' to which they confirmed they don't.
Anyone else irritated by the same scenario? My truck (2023 Limited Doublecab) is lifted so that extra space will definitely help. Anyone modified or MacGyver'ed the brackets? Mahalo!
