Can you bypass TPS sensor system?

Okay, it’s winter, and it affects those little things, but I am tired of seeing a light on my dash that is erroneously reporting low tire pressures.

Can these be bypassed when you purchase aftermarket wheels?

I don’t need an idiot gauge for my tires,

Some folks put a piece of black electrical tape over it. I don't believe it can be turned off but I might be wrong.

You know if you put air in the tires, the light goes out. How do you know the reading is erroneous?

The spare is almost always the low tire on the wife’s 4 runner. Check it if the other tires check out correctly

You could just reset the system to think normal tire pressure is like 10 psi. Then you’ll never have to worry about lows

Try inflating to the psi you want to run in your tires and press and hold reset button. (Bottom left of the steering cloumn) I think it will flash 3 times and reset to that pressure. Page 521

It works. I didn’t think it would, but it does. When I had my guys change my tires, I decided to ‘help them out’ and break the beads. Well- I have apparently been out of the shop and in an office long enough to make idiot mistakes, and of course broke a sensor. Valve stem itself is still good and in the tire. A little pvc, a valve stem, pressurize= no more light. Next set of tires- they will all come out and go into one sealed unit.

I’ve checked a dozen times, no more than a 1/4 diff on all tires, but the TPS will say it’s a 3-5 lb diff
