Just got a new 2018 Tacoma 4x2 want to change out the stocks to have a meaner look

Welcome to the forum. :)

Lots of info on wheels and tires in the forum. There is a search feature that works well. I’d say most questions have been asked and answered.

I personally like less rim more tire. 16” wheel with 265/75/16 tire on it.

8.5” is pushing it for width on 265’s. 9” is wide. 285’s it would be ok. 7-8” is better. I’d get the 17x8.5 +00 offset if that was my options on the wheels I wanted.[/QUOTE
So what sizes tire would be good on this set of rims 17x8 and offset it 0mm. 265’s as well?

That’s me for my use. You can put a 265 on a 9” wheel it will be fine.
You get what ever wheel you like and what ever offset you want. If you want the one that’s 17x9” -12 get it. The extra width of the wheel will make the 265/70/17 not as tall and the -12 offset will push the tire out more. It’s all what you want. The look you want. I don’t see a lot of folks running less then -12 offset without more modifications. I know some are running up to -24 and I’ve seen one put -44 on but not without modifications.
You won’t be able to fit a larger tire than 265/70/17 without a lift and some mods.
If you want to be safe get the same specs as OEM.
