Hi!! I have read most of the lift threads on the forum and was wondering if anyone has lifted a long bed with or without a cap? I’m looking at going with the Headstrong Bilstein 5100 kit with the HD Dakar springs. I wanted to keep the front between 2 1/4-2 1/2 inches of lift. I wanted to know what people’s experiences were with the different rate OME springs and how much they settle after the first couple thousand miles. Also what are people doing for diff drops, carrier bearing drops and rear axle shims? I read a few threads about measuring the drive line angles to figure out everything before and after and I do understand the whole within factory spec. Also will I be able to run the factory wheels and tires for a while without rubbing? Thanks in advance and any other info would be appreciated!!!

Phew...that’s a lot of questions Taco Rob! [emoji23] I also have a ‘19 LB TRD Sport model, no cap. I installed the HeadStrong Bilstein 5100 kit with OME 2887 coils preassembled. It allowed for 2” lift and I did not install a differential drop. The only issue I ran into is a slight vibration felt in the front end when driving speeds of 30-40 mph with temperatures below 50 degrees. With all my research, it seems the problem is the change in the driveline angle and is likely related to the needle bearing between the CV axle and the front differential. ECGS does make an 8” clamshell bushing to replace the needle bearing, which many taco owners say resolves the issue. It seems about 50 percent of 2nd and 3rd gen owners have this similar issue when they install a lift. I am planning to have a lift specialist diagnose the issue next week.

Have you tried putting the truck in 4wd while driving down the road to see if the feeling goes away in the front end? If it does clear up, then it is the needle bearing. If it doesn’t clear up, then the issue is something else. My ‘17 did the same thing and would clear up when I switched
it to 4wd. The new needle bearing from ECGS fixed everything.

Yes, it does go away in 4WD but then immediately returns when disengaged.

Honestly what I ran was Eibach stage 1 pro lift kit. Has adjustable eibach strut assembly, some great quality eibach springs, rear shocks, and you have an option of an adjustable UCA. The only thing this kit lacks is a leaf spring. I unfortunately had to run the stock springs due to the spring compressor not working that well. Beyond that this kit gives you 2.5 - 3 inches of lift. Downside is the rear will sag. I suggest an add a leaf or complete replacement of the leaf springs to accommodate for the lift. Rides awesome and so far no complaints. Best thing was the price at around $650. The UCA however is pretty pricy so that's why it's just an option. Ignore the squatting of my truck it still hasn't settled yet.
