Steering wheel noises when turning

Hello all im new here and needed some help with my 07 tacoma steering wheel

When ever turning the wheel left or right I can hear a noise clicking or somthing. Best i can explain is it sounds like a jack n the box noise when you crank the handle. Like a tink tink sound. Any ideas?

Sounds internal like a bad clock spring.

Googling it I came across the clock spring. What does that do?

It allows all the electrical on the steering wheel work even though the wheel turns.

Yupp I just read that. Well my horn and criuse control still work fine. Was thinking about taking it apart and hoping I could just locate it by sound

Could also be the turn signal thingy(great technical terminology). I have heard this noise before in various vehicles but none where my own.
