tailgate cables or attachment posts mod question

anyone know if there are attachment posts for the tailgate cables with a larger diameter head that the cables won't quick detach. I tried thin stainless washers but tolerances were such that binding occured. Another option my be cables without the big hole. any of these available?

With GM vehicles I just tack welded the release clip. Just trying to add 1 more level of theft deterrent

I'm not a thief, but if I tried to steal a tailgate and failed, I'd probably kick it and leave a big dent in it. Not sure if you can really out smart some looser trying to fiddle with your stuff.
