Calif Smog Issues I/M Momitors

Hello all. After replacing F & R cat converters on my 03 Tacoma when I hook up the scanner I get a "No Codes" reading but when I check the I/M Monitor status I am getting a INC on the cat converter monitor. I have put over 500 miles on the vehicle since changing the cats. Smog Station won't even test unless the I/M monitors all read OK. What I need to know is what it takes to get an "OK" reading on my scanner for the I/M Cat Monitor. Anybody have a similar problem? Thanks for any help/advice you can give.

Did you get the right cats?

Re I/M Monitors & Cats. I believe I installed the correct Cat converters. I ordered converters that were specific to my 03 and were bolt ons. I also made sure they were CARB approved. To Bojangles, OR17TRD and Bogunn , Appreciate you guys taking an interest in my problem. Registration has expired and I feel like I am playing Russian Roulette every time I have to go anywhere.
 
PS. Sorry to not have responded sooner. Past forums I have been on (not Toyota) questions had to percolate a while before getting a response.
 
Replaced the upstream O2 Sensor just a month prior to replacing the Cats. Did so because the Chk Eng Lite came on and the scanner showed a code for that sensor. After replacing the O2 Sensor the lite and code cleared. Downstream sensor is still Original Equipment.

replace the downstream then............it monitors the 1st ones. If its reading wrong, maybe its throwing the code and blaming the fronts.
 
Hello Bojangles. I have since replaced the downstream O2 Sensor. Replacement part was specific to the 2003 Tacoma, not an universal fit. The I/M monitor still will not reset and still reads inc. (Inject a bad word or two here). Talked to a repair shop and was told after all I have done, about the only thing left is to replace the ECU but that was no guarantee that this would resolve the problem. Aaaauuurrgh.

Well thats some bad news
 
I/M Monitors Cleared. YES! My problem in clearing the Cat I/M Monitor has been resolved. To get it to change from inc to OK I had to perform a drive cycle with very specific parameters regarding mph and how long at given mph. I followed these parameters and, after months of reading inc, the monitor now read ok and I have since had my Tacoma successfully smogged. I had thought that a 'drive cycle' was basically, start the engine, drive the vehicle, turn off the engine. This is not he case. There are very specific drive cycles, each with its own parameters that must be met in order to activate a particular I/M Monitor. I did not discover or figure this out, credit goes to lvs2rock on Tacoma World.com's Technical forum who, after reading my post, provided me with the above information. lvs2rock, if you follow both forums and are reading this, thanks again.
