I had ticking in a Porsche once. It drove me crazy. But in a Tacoma it's ok because it seems to be normal. I think it comes down to what you expect from the engine... or any other part of the truck or car.

In 30 degrees, takes about 4 miles to feel heat from the vents. When parked outdoors, and start to drive as soon as ice is scrapped from windows--about 5 minutes.

Yes, I can feel when it's time to upshift (I upshift and downshift my automatic when necessary). With SSP I can feel the engine change its sound just a little, but it is enough to feel and hear that I can shift without looking at the tachometer. That point comes at 3000 rpm.
