Unless its a diesel powered vehicle, I never would buy someone else's used vehicle with over 50k miles, but thats just me.

Was thinking if the op's truck is a 2020 the engine is covered by something like a 5-6 year, or 50-60k powertrain warranty.

I would think rotted out frames, and faulty fuel pumps are safety recalls. Toyota might inspect some of that stuff, but if ok, they are not going to replace it....and I don't even think it would apply to a 25 year old vehicle. Heck if the manufacture claims that part is no longer made for your...

BS, I doubt if thats true....many recalls on those trucks have long expired. For one try getting a new frame if your 20 year old one had rotted out. I have a fuel pump recall on my truck, but it's not forever. As long as the original one still functions fine their're not going to replace it.

I've had 22r and 22re engines back in the 80's that accumulated high mileage, but neither had the vvt-i system. Neither made any strange sounds on startup either. Noise on your truck might be something else like the timing chain, or the tensioner....I've not heard a vvt-i failure going that...
