2018 Tacoma Sport TRD

I love this truck just don’t seem to understand why it vibrates like that

If it’s not vibrating at speed and the RPM aren’t dying down than it’s more than likely just the Atkinson cycle. There’s a great video posted in this thread explaining the motor and how it runs. You will get a slight vibration with this motor.
I’ve had two third gens and they both did it. Not enough to make me worry but enough to notice.
There’s been a few hiccups with the third gens (as there is with any new model of vehicle) but the motor hasn’t been one of them.
If it’s worrisome for you than I’d take it to the dealership and let them investigate it to give you peace of mind.

Good morning thank you guys for all the response, so the Atkinson cycle is running all the time? Because I feel the vibration on my truck from point a to point b everyday

The engine switches between Otto cycle and Atkinson cycle as power is needed. It also uses direct and port fuel injection.
At a redlight, while idling, or when less power is needed the motor runs in Atkinson cycle.
When you need more power, hit the gas, put the motor under a load by requiring torque for movement the Otto Cycle kicks in (the most popular standard thermodynamic cycle that has been in use since the inception of the internal combustion motor).
The truck is constantly switching as power is needed to increase efficiency.
With all of this technology going on under the hood you’ll get some vibration and chattering as it changes between Atkinson and Otto, direct and port fuel injection.

Thanks bro! Just learned a lot ! I’ll just have to to learn to ignore the vibration!

I've learned to love it. I get on highways in 3rd gear always, then hit it as I'm merging (after making sure nobody is in the way). This little baby really takes off!

This explanation of both cycles is useful.

So you can sleep at night ^
Never had any issues with my motor just Tranny hunting and leaky rears couple little things Haha

that should help a lot.

How long have you had your truck for? I also have an 18 dcsb sport and when I took delivery everything was running great but for the last month or so there have been little random things here and there like the excessive engine noise as well as some suspension noises. I took it for my first service this past Friday and so far my tacoma been driving better than when I first got it. There is a noticeable difference in engine noise and all my little issues have gone away.

Do you guys recommend any tuns ?? I’ve seen on here about OVtune have any of you used it ??
I have it and love it. Got it back in July, no issues, it really shines at low elevations, I live at 7,000' but it makes me smile up here too. Manual transmission also.

It sounds like it was telling you it needed a fluid flush. Glad it’s running better.

I just got this truck 3 weeks ago! Does yours have a vibration when your on idle too? Or is this happening just on some Tacoma’s ! ?

I would say yes but nothing too bad for me to really worry about. I figured it just had to do with how loud the engine was before it got warmed up because once everything was all warmed up the vibrations subsided for the most part. I also noticed minor squeaks and other noises from inside the cab that bothered me more than the engine noise and minor vibrations and those were usually constant at slower speeds when driving on bumpy roads. I guess my truck just need to be lubed up inside and out, lol.

Check this out my truck doesn’t have any vibrations when it’s cold but once it’s at normal temperature it starts to vibrate. And don’t get me stared when I turn on the ac ...

Well that's interesting to hear, I don't really know what to say.

Like someone else suggested, maybe you should change which gas station you go to. Years ago, there was one particular gas station that I went to that every time I filled up, about halfway through that tank of gas, the check engine light would come on. Once I refilled at a different gas station it went away.

Maybe my Atkinson cycle doesn't work. I don't have any weird vibes or changes in how the engine runs at all.
Feels like a normal sedan engine in a truck.

Brother, I hate you are letting this drive you crazy.
Why don’t you take it to the dealership if you don’t think it’s normal. Make them look at it.
Change gas stations for a while too. At least a couple full tanks.
Test drive another third gen. See if it does it.
If you know someone else who’s got a third gen ask to ride in or drive theirs.
