2020 feels gutless when it comes to fun?

Last night I was with my buddies ripping around a very deep, wet, and snowy cornfield in 4H, my taco just didn't keep the revs at a steady rip to get through consistently and each time it would happen it'd just lose all tire spin/ speed and almost got stuck a couple times. Like yeah it made it out but not without the cost me of thinking we were about to be all effed a few km deep in a field.
Another scenario, when I go for a hard drift/ doughnut and get the tires spinning and just as it starts going. It doesn't follow through like any other vehicle would in that moment and just gives up ( all of this even with traction control completely off). Like it'll pull off a really good drift and doughnut just fights me 80% of the time doing it. What's up with that?

I adore this truck, it's my absolute baby girl, it just has a bit of sass with me sometimes. So thought I'd ask.

P.s. If someone can help me disable that F*CKING key in ignition/ no seatbelt beeping please tell me before my fist goes through my dash on a bad day.

Should have got the v6. My 2020 with a 3.5 v6 will put a smile on you every time....especially if you stomp on the go pedal when at a stoplight. I've accidentally lit up the tires a few times.
As far as the little seat belt reminder...I guess if you can find where the noise is coming from, just disconnect the wiring to it. Idk why it annoys you, it doesn't bother me.

I run mine in ECT mode in S-Mode and shut off the traction control up in the over head console then it's way more fun to drive and the ECT holds it in gear a little longer before shifting. Makes a world of difference. :)mines a'16 so maybe not as many Nanny's under the hood

If I use ect, all it does is delay the shift to the next gear forever wasting fuel economy, and making more engine noise. Imo, it's a worthless mode. Truck is perfect in the d mode all the time, except when towing under 3k lbs, I'll use s5, or even s4 if hilly.

I find drive boring I like to shift it in S-Mode it's like having a manual valve body automatic like I had in my 69 Camaro ,and at 19-20 ish for gas mileage I'm not to worried about that.lol

S mode is fine for towing as it delays the shift points just enough to keep you in the meat of the engines torque, but not for having an unloaded truck where I've found D is the way to go.
When I rode in a buddies older gen3 auto trd or for fishing trips, the truck sucked in the D mode. He had to always run it in the ect setting, or it would have no getup, and go. At any rate he has a nissan now, and is much happier with it.

Just did a series of 500' stoplight to stoplight drag races with my 2020 gen3 auto 4x4 v6 access cab against a 2024 gen4 sr5 black double cab. Results were the same every time with the gen4 getting barely smoked. My tacoma would instantly pull 2 truck lengths off the start, and hold it to barely a 1/2 truck length 500' later. Just shows once those gen4's get on the turbo, they're coming hard. If we ran any further that big bad black 4 banger taco would have passed me.
For a naturally aspirated 3.5 v6 this trucks a runner.

Did you just put it in drive and stomp on it or did you shift it in S-Mode ?the v6 does pull pretty good in the 2500 to 4500 power band, and shift before it hits 5000 and the stupid rev limiters.

Yeah, left it in the d mode. Truck will squeal the tires pretty good for a few feet, and launch real good. I've turned off that traction control bs. Tach goes instantly up to redline. It's quick for a heavy v6 gen3 tacoma. It would easily smoke my old 4.7 tundra if they were run together.
