These are simple old straight 6 engines, extremely underpowered, 3 in the tree gearshifts. The guy selling them wanted to sell as a package deal so I bought both. They just aren't really my cup of tea. I did a ton of work to both fixing them up, drove them a little bit, then thought why did i buy them...

first time i went car shopping as a teen, i found a sweet little el camino with a topper. instead, dad bought me a 68 chrysler newport custom for $125. it was a tank, but it could haul ass! rural roads with canals were the best to fly over and tickle the tummy. on my budget gas money was very precious. so i wasnt able to drive it like that much. watching the gas gauge drop in real time was an awakening. usually just drove to school and work. no cruising main every weekend. even won ugliest car award at my hs. haha! i miss it.

I love reading your nostalgic car stories! Some very cool and interesting cars you've owned. The memories are priceless.I was the youngest and grew up during the muscle car era. Our home was a real noisey showcase of great cars that drove the neighbours crazy. During this time my first car in high school was a 1969...brace yourself...Volkswagen beetle. Man did I take teasing that scars me to this day. :) well I finally found some redemption when I cut it up into a dune buggy. Then it was..kinda neat for a while but the teasing continued. So I truly enjoy reading your reminisces it brings it all home again!

:) it was fun for sure. It kinda started the transformation on its own . My cousins and I used to tear around in it on the backroads and slowly it lost the running boards, bumper, exhaust. So I had a head start.:) it was fun. I remember there was an older guy who had a crazy driver reputation as people often met him on the dirt roads going sideways in a cloud of dust.well we heard that he complained about my cousin and I that were were outa control. Just added to the rep I guess :)

I had a motor bike first before a car, and I basically taught myself how to ride it, fell a few times.
It was maybe not the best plan looking back on it all now.
I was too young to get an actual license, so put it in my friends name, she got plates and insurance so it looked legit but wasn't. I was a bit rebellious when young. When i was 16 I went and got a learner's license for car and bike, had to wait for a month to do the road test and get my actual license. By then I could ride pretty well, and passed with ease.

Lol I had a yz50 when I was 6 then around 1989 my father and I bought a Honda fat cat used for me. . That thing was a death trap. After that I never wanted a street bike. Maybe that was his master plan. I had the fat cat forever. I let my buddy’s ride it when I got older and they didn’t have 4- wheelers.

My first bike was a 1970 1/2. Honda cb450, went from that to a Suzuki dual purpose 250, scared myself doing stupid stuff with that one, figured id better go back to the street. Next was a kz 750 Kawasaki, then a silverwing, then a goldwing, then a harley heritage softail. As atiquated and crude as sone of the things were on the Harley I enjoyed it the most of all of them. Just sold it about 3 years ago and got out of bikes.
