Clutch problem on 2000 Tacoma

I'm having a weird problem with my 2000 Tacoma. It's a manual five speed. Sometimes when I depress the clutch, the clutch pedal stays on the floor. I can pull it back up with the toe of my shoe, but when I depress it again, it falls flat on the floor. I cannot engage the clutch, so I have to start it while in first gear to get it going, then shift without the use of the clutch. I'll let it sit over night, and it works fine the next day. This happens about once every couple of months, and has been going on for a couple of years. It has 726,000+ miles on it

At that mileage it can be a lot things from clapped out clutch linkage to a worn out clutch itself. Until you get under there checking/eliminating the clutch slave cylinder, and associated components, your just taking a wild guess.

Hey my buddy just picked up a 2022 low mileage trd sport taco. They had his sons gen1 with the blown 5 speed tranny towed to the toyota dealer here. Said the sales manager gave him $4500 toward the 2022 gen3, so he decided to do it. He's going to give his full size 2015 1500 chevy to his son, and keep the gen3 for himself. Hope to check it out soon.
