Cold air intake installed

No one sees it unless you pop the hood. You will hear it and that’s why most people put them on is for the sound. You post stuff on a public forum where people can leave comments be ready for some flack.
@kp.taco posted a picture of him and his kid having a fun time making memories together and that picture got turned into a brony taco picture.
@Bogunn put a bull bar on his 2017 Tacoma and we still like to give him crap about pushing shopping carts and it being Aussie approved. I put a 3” spacer lift on my 2017 off-road and got a tone of crap for it. Anyone who puts themselves out on the web is going to have people who agree and disagree. You do you and enjoy your build.

Honestly, I'm surprised you guys on the left coast are forced to drive electric/hybrid "prius-like" Tacomas?! My "drop-in" K&N air filter screwed up MAF sensor in my 02 Tundra. I'll stick to the stock filter/set-up.

Dont forget that afe has the prodry s model... No oil
Been running one on their intake for almost a decade.
Working just fine, but some say silt may get past. I dont sand tho.

I ran one for a short time on my truck to measure iat compared to a few other intakes. I took it off and cleaned my maf sensor and throttle body asap. They were pretty dirty despite cleaning them prior to install.

I have no doubt that the oil fouled the MAF. I have run K&N filters on all of my vehicles since 1990. Over 300K miles (3 drivers) and 30 years with no trouble. Most likely the filter was over oiled. Most come from the factory that way.

I even run one on my Husqvarna ZTR mower with a Donaldson type filtering unit on it. The OE dry outer filter left enough fines pass to discolor the inner filter. After I replaced the outer filter with a K&N and the inside filter with a new OE unit, the inner unit has remained clean, after 12 years.

They do come out of their bag dripping wet in many cases. I washed my test k&n, oiled it lightly, let it sit in the sun a few hrs and left it in the garage for the remainder of a day. **** still got pulled onto the maf and tb.
Ive had them screw up a maf on my maxima, and celica. I also seen it screw up a friends Corolla.

Its almost always a 50/50 case when these oiled filters get talked about.

I don't doubt what you said. But on the other hand, I am one lucky bastard I guess.
