Got a 99 3.4 2wd manual...worth getting tran rebuilt?

New here. California. My transmission is popping out of first (changed shifter bushing/seat and fluid). It's better but not perfect. Is it worth a rebuild?

Imo, your wasting money on those old trucks, especially a 2wd thats worth zip around here, unless your able to do the labor end, including rebuilding the transmission, or have a 2nd vehicle, and this old truck is more a hobby for you to restore. Once you get past the nanny bs, the new iron is just so much more civilized when driven like most trucks today. Gone is the gen1 lumber wagon ride of the past. I use to think my gen1 tundra was good....I like my gen3 tacoma even better.

Op claims they did that already, and it was better but not perfect. Probably like a transmission a friend of mine's kid has in his 03 taco thats just worn out. He's already got more into his gen1 than what he bought it for, plus he hasn't even used it all that much. Imo, it's just a money pit he'll never recoup.

Every vehicle depreciates from the time you take it off the dealers lot. It comes down to how bad you need personal transportation thats reliable, not owning a high mileage money pit thats worth nothing when all said, and done. There's a saying...you never throw good money after bad. Paying someone to repair an old played out vehicle is a poor choice. At least with a newer, or new vehicle, i can deduct its property tax off my income tax's as with the home, and shop.

Been use to a tundra, I find no problem with the hood on my gen3. Its you gen1 guys that live in another dimension.
