Communication is always a must when on the open road or in the back country. With that said, I don't keep my stuff in my truck when just driving day to day back and forth to work, errands etc. To many folks have an itch for 5 finger discount. So set my CB up for 12V plug in. Other devices I use have rechargeable batteries so just plug a 110V inverter in to recharge them. I keep all of it in a small toolbox and when I need them just toss that in the back access area and go.

I use mine mostly to listen in on the National Weather Service when out camping. Came in handy once when a Tornado came thru close to where I was camped.
