IMG_0614.JPG Just bought a 1996 regular cab Tacoma. 4 cylinder 4 wheel drive. Replaced the brake lights. And the license plate lights. The license plate lights still won't work. Checked fuses. All seems right. Also the radio works but it's not backlit at night. It that normal? And the cigarette lighter port doesn't work. I'm not an electrician. Someone help me out.
 
Hi Ryan,

On these 1st gen Tacoma's they have 2 fuse box locations. One is located in the cab on the drivers side beneath the steering wheel and to the left. The other one is under the hood close to the battery. I changed my radio just for the same issue you are having with yours.
