Drove my 69 F100 for years with drums all around. Put a vacuum booster on it and it was amazing! I did eventually switch out for 70’s beams with disc since it was such a simple and cheap upgrade.
I had a 74 J 10 with drums all the way around. They sucked until I put a vacuum assist booster on it, then it was awesome. I think the surface area of the friction performs better than sandwiching a rotor between two pads
